Initiation of ADHD medication
Treatment process for ADHD/ADD – from first contact to follow-up
First visit – initial assessment
The treatment begins with a visit to a specialist in psychiatry. During the visit, a thorough medical history (medical history) is taken, a survey of the patient's needs, lifestyle habits (alcohol, drugs, lifestyle) and a medical assessment that includes somatic and neurological status. We also perform weight measurement and check vital parameters such as blood pressure and pulse.
Before starting treatment
To begin treatment with central stimulant drugs, we need:
- A previously completed neuropsychiatric examination or medical records confirming the diagnosis of ADHD/ADD.
- If the diagnosis is made clinically without underlying investigation, additional testing or a new neuropsychiatric evaluation is required.
- Sampling (PEth, drug test, blood tests, liver status, ECG, pulse, blood pressure, weight).
- A treatment contract regarding central stimulant (CS) medication that is signed by the patient.
Initiation of drug treatment
After all preparations are complete, a doctor's appointment is booked where:
- The doctor reviews the test results.
- Information is provided about ADHD and the different treatment options.
- We plan future follow-ups and book appointments.
- A prescription is written and the patient receives written information about the medication and any side effects.
Follow-up during the deployment phase
- Doctor's visit approximately 1, 2 and 4 weeks after treatment begins (30 minutes per appointment).
- At each follow-up, side effects, pulse, blood pressure and weight are checked.
- A return visit takes place within 2 months of the start of treatment for an overall assessment.
The deposit package that Skepsis reception offers includes all cash from the first visit to the second return visit.
After the deposit period
- Regular doctor visits every 3 or 6 months for evaluation and prescription renewal.
- Phone calls between doctor visits for reconciliation and prescription renewal.
- Extra visits can be booked in case of changes or if additional support is desired.
- Contact can also be spaced out depending on the individual's needs.
